Living With Viola

The bottom panel shows Viola standing in front of her school as students begin entering the front doors and a few students are exiting a car in front of the school. The students are speaking to the driver, saying “Thanks for the ride!” “Later mom!” and “Thank you Mrs. Mehta”

A comic strip divided into several panels. The top panel features a group of three friends walking down a path, having a conversation as Viola watches behind them. The three friends are speaking and saying: "So excited to be together again!", "This will be our best year yet!", and "We all have the same homeroom."

The second panel shows Viola over a red background with the word "ALONE" above her head in bold letters. The third panel shows Viola sighing with a blue shadow of her figure behind her.

The fourth panel shows Viola walking up the stairs and the blue shadow of herself following behind.

  1. In the first panel, Viola attempts to open a locker while her shadow observes.
  2. The second panel shows Viola growling in frustration as she tries to open her locker. Her shadow figure crosses her arms, observing.
  3. The third panel shows Viola striking the locker door, making “BANG BANG” noises, while her shadow stands by.
  4. In the fourth panel, the door opens, hitting Viola and creating a “WHACK” sound. Her shadow laughs, exclaiming “HAHAHA!”
  5. The fifth panel shows Viola throwing a book, with the text “OW!” displayed. Her shadow continues to laugh with a “DOUBLE HAHA HA.”
  6. The final panel shows Viola moving away, blushing and embarrassed, holding a book as a bell rings, indicated by the text “RIIING.” Her shadow is following her, still amused.

A two-panel comic. In the top panel, the bel is ringing as Livy runs towards the classroom door saying “Gonna make it.” As her shadow twin Viola runs behind her saying “No! Not gonna be late!”. In the second panel, Livy is entering the classroom saying “I made it!!” and “oops” her teacher at the front of the class says “please take a seat”.

A four-panel comic strip. In the first panel, Livy’s teacher Ms. Leroy is at the front of the classroom saying “Welcome, class! We’re going to have a great deal of fun this year.” In the second panel, Ms.Leroy is going through her desk and says “But wait!! I almost forgot something really important.” In the third panel, Ms.leroy faces the class with large heart-shaped sunglasses on. Ms. Leroy says “And why does Ms.Leroy need these giant sunglasses for class?” “because this class is all full of bright students!” in the background, some students laugh and other groan. In the last panel, Ms. Leroy says “Okay, time for attendance”

A four-panel comic. In the first panel, Livy looks concerned as her shadow twin comments critically about the new school experience. She says, “First day Livy and you’re already a disaster” and “this whole new-school thing is going to be the worst!” “No one likes the new kid.” In the second panel, Livy is swatting her shadow twin and says “Stop it, Viola! Go away”. In the third panel, Ms.Leroy calls Livy’s name for attendance saying “Olivia Siu Leen Tong!. In the fourth panel, Livy jumps out of her seat saying “here!” “I’m here, miss” as the things on her desk scattering around her.

A two-panel comic strip. In the first panel, the class turns back to look at Livy standing at her desk. Ms. Leroy at the front of the class says “Looks like we’ve got a dreamer here. You can sit down Olivia. But please pay more attention. I called your name three times” In the second panel, Livy nervously sits at her desk. Her shadow twin surrounds her snickering and says “Did you hear that? Don’t worry I’ve got it recorded right here forever.” Her shadow twin clicks play on a recording device as Livy covers her ears and shuts her eyes.

A four-panel comic strip. In the first panel, Livy stands at the entrance of her school cafeteria, with her shadow twin Viola behind her. Around them, students are talking and eating together. In the second panel, Livy sits alone and begins taking her lunch out of her bag. Large text above her says “ALONE”. In the third panel, a nearby student says “what’s that smell” as Livy begins eating her lunch. In the fourth panel, her shadow twin Viola says “They’re talking about you!” as Livy hides under the table.

A five-panel comic strip. In the first panel, Livy is leaving the school looking upset, Viola is following behind. In the second panel, Livy looks upset as she stands behind a group of students talking. One student says “Lets go to the mall.” The others respond saying “yeah, okay!” and “lets get chocolate slushies.” Above Livy is the text “Forever alone”

In the third panel, Livy sits on the bus alone. In the fourth panel, the bus screeches to a stop and Livy’s mom waits for her next to the bus. In the fifth panel, Livy’s mom says “How was school” Livy responds saying “S’okay” Next to them, Viola says “you mean total disaster”

Livy runs into the house as Viola chases behind her words and phrases like "SO EMBARRASSING," "TOTAL DISASTER," "LOSER," "LAUGHING AT YOU," and "THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU". Livy’s mom looks concerned.

Livy sits on her bed hugging her knees, as Viola her shadow twin surrounds her. She fills the room with negative phrases like “no one will ever be your friend, loner, loser, so alone, stupid, hate, disaster”. Livy covers her ears and says “stop! please stop!”. A speech bubble at the bottom of the comic says “Livy-cat?”
