More on hygiene!

During puberty, your body produces something called hormones. These chemical messengers cause changes in your sweat and oil glands (which can cause acne) as well as the growth of body hair. Hygiene is keeping your hair, skin, hands, teeth, and body clean.

Press the following tabs to access a hint to help you get started.

Hint: Flossing and brushing every day helps fight off bacteria and bad breath. If you do not take care of your oral health, you can get cavities, gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath!

Hint: If you do not wash your hands, you could get infections in your eyes, in your mouth and spread germs that can make you and other people very sick.

Hint: Your skin could be oily especially along your forehead and down the centre of your face. Try not to touch your face as it can spread bacteria. Cleaning your face helps decrease acne.

Hint: During puberty, you might sweat more, so you need to shower or take a bath regularly. Focus on washing your hair, your armpits, and your feet.

Hint: Change your clothes daily. You also might choose to use deodorant for your armpits. Cleaning these areas reduces the chance of producing body odour.

Hint: Keeping your nails clean helps stop the spread of germs. A lot of dirt and bacteria hide under your fingernails.
