Now it’s time for a warm-up!

Explore the following warm up activities. Choose three of the activities to perform on your own!

  1. Start by standing or sitting with your arms hanging loose.
  2. Slowly move one arm and reach for your opposite foot.
  3. Count to five and carefully move your body back up.
  4. Repeat this step with your other hand.

  1. Start by standing or sitting.
  2. Stretch your arms out to the side.
  3. Make circles moving your arms forward, count to five then stop.
  4. Make circles moving your arms backwards, count to 5 then stop.
  5. Repeat this stretch one more time.

  1. Start by standing or sitting.
  2. Keep your head straight.
  3. Gently move your head to one side, then slowly roll it to the other side.
  4. Bring your head back to the starting position and repeat the stretch.
  5. Repeat this stretch five times.

  2. Bring one arm across your body.
  3. Use your other arm and hold your elbow, slowly pulling it to your chest.
  4. Hold and count to ten.
  5. Repeat on the other side.

  3. Count to ten, then bring your arms down.
  4. Repeat this stretch one more time.

Let’s send objects using the underhand throw.

An underhand throw is when you move an object forward using a one-handed movement.

Instructions:

  1. You can sit or stand.
  2. Pick your object and target.
  3. Get a good hold of your object.
  4. Position your body towards the target, and focus.
  5. If standing, you can take a step forward with the opposite foot of your throwing arm.
  6. Move your throwing arm behind your back.
  7. Gently move your arm forward and release your object.
  8. Repeat this five times.

Remember you can take breaks.

Let’s send objects using the overhand throw.

An overhand throw is when you move an object forward using an overhand movement.

Instructions:

  1. You can sit or stand.
  2. Pick your object.
  3. Get a good hold of your object.
  4. Position your body towards the target, and focus.
  5. If standing, you can take a step forward with the opposite foot of your throwing arm.
  6. Move your throwing arm behind your head.
  7. Gently move your arm forward and release your object.
  8. Repeat this five times.

Let’s send objects by striking and using our feet to kick.

Striking is when you send force to an object with your foot.

The object can be still in one place or it can be moving.

Instructions:

  1. You can sit or stand.
  2. Pick your object.
  3. Place your object on the floor and get behind it.
  4. Position your body towards the target, and focus.
  5. If you are sitting, gently kick the ball with your feet, moving it forward.
  6. If you are standing, move your kicking leg back, then gently move it forward towards your object.
  7. You can use your arms to help balance.
  8. Repeat this five times.

Now try and send your object to your target using:

  • one body part
  • a different body part
  • two body parts
