Let’s play a game!
We are going to play a game that lets us move in different directions and different ways.
You can play this game inside or outside.
Before you play the game, remember to do your safety checks!
For this game you will need:
4 paper cups. You can also use cans, rolled up socks, or stuffed animals.
Instructions
- Make a rectangle or a square with your cups.
- You will be moving around the outside of these cups.
- Try 2 or 3 options from the ‘Options’ list.
- When you are done, change the position of your cups into a zigzag and try a different movement.
Here is the Options list for this game. Try 2 or 3 options from this list.
Walk or wheel moving forward.
Jump moving forward.
Take giant steps moving sideways.
Move your arms up and down while moving forwards.
Walk or wheel backwards. Make sure to check over your shoulders as you move.
Crawl moving forwards.
Dance moving backwards.
Make up your own way of moving.

Explore the following options. Complete three of these activities for your cooldown.
- Start by standing or sitting
- Gently shake one arm, the other arm, then both
- Shake one leg, the other leg, then both
- Gently shake your head, hips, and whole body
- Start by standing or sitting
- March on the spot and raise your arms out to your shoulders
- Slowly make circles going one way. Do this 5 times
- Slowly make circles going the other way. Do this 5 times

- Marching on the spot and raise your arms in the air

- Try and make different shapes
- Start by standing or sitting
- Pretend to be a tree in a windstorm, your arms are the branches
- The windstorm starts off strong blowing hard
- The windstorm then begins to blow softer and calmer
- Start by standing or sitting
- Reach up using your arms and touch the sky. Count to 5
- Slowly reach down and touch your toes. Count to 5
- Repeat this one more time
- Start by standing or sitting
- Slowly move your body forward
- Reach and touch your toes. Count to 5, then move your body back up
- Try to touch your toes one foot at a time
- Start by standing or sitting
- Pretend to climb a tall ladder
- Slowly move your arms and legs up and down as if you were climbing a ladder to the sky
- Slowly take a deep breath and breathe through your nose
- Breathe out through your mouth
- Repeat this 3 times
- Take your arms and wrap them around your shoulders and give yourself a big hug
