Back to the cat

Let’s return to the image of the cat.

There is a large black cat standing on a chair.

A writer can create many messages about this image as you did.

How did you create your messages about this cat? Did you use pictures? Symbols? Written words? Spoken words?

Writers can even use a combination of ways to create their message.

Let's practise!

There are many ways to create a message.

Let’s practise creating messages.

Try to create 2 messages about items in your learning space using 2 different ways.

This is the student’s learning space. It has a coffee table with a laptop, a reusable water bottle, a notebook, a pencil, and a small bowl of carrot sticks.

The student wrote these two messages:

  • These carrots are my snack that I eat when I work.
  • I use this computer to do my learning in this space.

You can draw or describe your messages using what is around your learning space, such as an alphabet chart, books, games, flyers, or toys.

You can also use these images and audio clips to help you create your messages.

Share your sentences with a partner, if possible.

Imagination

Let’s practise making messages in a new way! Try to create three messages about this mystery box.

Imagine you have this box.

What might be inside the box?

What is the box for?

You can write, type, draw, or describe what is in this box.
