Designing an advertisement for a celebration

Design a media advertisement that will help others learn about a cultural celebration you selected. You can select a media form of your choice. This means you can design your advertisement for TV, radio, a newspaper, or magazine. Include facts that you have discovered in your research.

Your advertisement should include the following:

  • the name of the celebration
  • when, how and why it is celebrated
  • the significance of the cultural celebration
  • any relevant visual and/or audio elements

Review your learning

Once you have completed your design, reflect on your learning. Use the following questions to guide your reflection. You can record your responses using a method of your choice.

  • What advertisement method did you select for your cultural celebration advertisement? Explain why it is an appropriate choice.
  • How did your skills in listening, speaking, reading, and/or writing help you to create your advertisement?
  • When you think of cultural celebrations what comes to your mind?
  • What did you learn in this lesson that you could share with someone else?
  • What questions do you still have?
