Action
Task 1: What is a travel brochure?
If you’re in the travel business, you need a good travel brochure. The purpose of a travel brochure is to attract customers to explore a specific destination and what it has to offer. It is usually packed with helpful information that will help someone to learn more about a place that they haven’t visited before. How do you select what information to include? Let’s find out!

Choose a country you are interested in learning more about. Research and find travel brochures about that country. Pick one to analyze and use the following questions to guide your observations.
- What destination is the brochure created for?
- What information does the brochure contain?
- What images or interactive elements (e.g., video and/or audio files, slideshows, or animations) does the brochure have?
- How does the travel brochure attract customers to visit this particular destination?
- Do you think the brochure you picked is effective?
Record your findings in an audio recording, on paper, or on the computer.
Task 2: Wish List
Brainstorm
Brainstorm
Think about an activity you have always wanted to do! For example, have you ever wanted to scuba dive or snorkel? Bungee jump or skydive? Make a list of five activities that you want to try.
Use the Internet to search for a travel brochure that contains one or more of your “dream” activities. Where can you go to do these activities? Does the brochure give enough information about these activities?

Task 1: Create a travel brochure
Create a travel brochure for a province or city in Canada. Keep in mind that the objective of a travel brochure is to attract customers and provide them with information that will entice them to choose this destination for their next vacation.
Start by doing some research on the province or city. Your brochure should contain relevant and up-to-date information about the destination as well as any, deals, packages, or tour adventures you have to offer.
Your brochure should include the following elements:
- the name of the destination and some fun facts (e.g., what is the province or city famous for?)
- places to visit and things to do
- images and/or videos of the city (e.g., flag, attractions, famous landmarks, etc.)
- maps (a still or animated version)
- the weather
- food districts and/or popular neighbourhoods to visit
- why someone should visit
You may use the graphic organizer below to plan and/or design your travel brochure. Record your ideas using a method of your choice.
