Morning message
Let’s explore these morning messages:
Welcome. Today we're going to practice how to present.
Welcome to a brand-new day of learning! It’s a sunny day out there. Today we are going to explore how to give a great presentation!
What do you notice? How are they similar? How are they different?

Think-Pair-Share
Take a moment to reflect on the two morning messages. Which message is more positive or exciting? Which message was more inviting and why? If possible, share your thinking with a partner.
Note to teachers: See your teacher guide for collaboration tools, ideas and suggestions.
Action
Making it interesting!
There are many ways for us to give a good presentation.
Let’s explore a video from the Homework Zone.
Teacher Wynne’s tips were:

Be confident |
Clear voice |
Focus on audience |

Now, let’s explore the video "Can You Imagine That!" While you explore this video think about these things:
- Did Annika use any of teacher Wynne’s tips to make her presentation interesting? Let’s try to come up with some examples of what Annika did in the video to help make her presentation interesting.
- For the last one, practice, we need to guess. Do you think Annika practiced?
You can record your thinking in the Presentation Tips Checklist in your notebook or using the following fillable and printable document.

Think-Pair-Share
Now, let’s practice ways we can change how we present the same message. If possible, find a partner to work with on the following message.
Try changing the way you say the message by changing the tone in your voice. It’s not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it.
How would you change your voice to show different moods?
Practice changing the sentence to fit the mood. You might choose to do an action with your message or use a prop to help show the mood.
Share
If possible, take turns sharing your new and improved messages with a partner! Consider how they made each message more interesting. Did they do the same thing as you, or did they do something different?
Note to teachers: See your teacher guide for collaboration tools, ideas and suggestions.
Consolidation
Making my presentation amazing!
Now it’s time to create your own presentation using one of these topics (or choose your own)!
- An activity I enjoy during school or after school
- A topic I find interesting (space, sports, art, history)
Consider these questions as you prepare:
- What is your activity or topic?
- Why do you like this activity or topic?
- Who do you do it with? Where do you do it?
- What are some interesting facts about your activity or topic?
Let"s create!
You can record a video, an audio clip, create slides, write, or use speech-to-text to share your presentation.
The success criteria for your presentation are the tips from teacher Wynne’s video. Make sure to be confident, use a clear voice, focus on your audience, and practice!
