Every coin has a different value and a different appearance. Your job is to explore each coin and identify the different features. Let's explore the coins virtually, using the coin manipulatives.

How can you sort coins? Using what you learned in the Minds On section, come up with different ways you can sort the coins. For example, you can sort the coins by value, size or by colour.

The front side of a 50-cent coin. It contains two inscriptions, the Canadian coat of Arms and the words Canada and 50 cents.

Did you know that we have a 50-cent coin in Canada? The coin has lions, maple leaves, flowers, flags and a crown in its design.

The 50-cent coin is not used in stores or banks very often. It is mainly bought and kept by coin collectors.
