Education fund

A Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) is a savings plan dedicated for a child’s education after high school. A family member must contribute money on a bi-weekly or monthly basis to this plan. The federal government then adds 20% of every dollar you contribute into that education plan.

A financial advisor is someone who advises people about decisions for their money. While many people can take on this role, there are people professionally trained to do the job.

Task 1: Investing

A couple wants to open a bank account to save money for their four-year-old child’s post-secondary education. They do not have a lot of extra money, so they want to start saving early. Their financial advisor has told them to start investing in a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP).

Create a plan for them including any research they should do first. Whom could they ask for advice? What questions should they ask?
