Did you know?

Did you know there is a way to learn the names of the trees that are in the world around us? There are programs on the computer that show people the name of the tree right in front of them. The program also shows the special parts of that tree that will help them know it the next time they see it in nature.

Isn’t it exciting that technology can help us learn more about the environment around us?

Protecting trees

Trees are living things. There are ways that people can help to protect trees and keep our environment healthy.

  • Don’t pull bark off the trunks of trees. This makes trees get sick. The bark is their skin.
  • Don’t pull branches off trees. You can rip the bark.
  • Don’t put nails, screws, or hooks into trees. This makes a hole in the tree and hurts the bark.
  • Don’t plant new trees too close together. As they grow, they may not have enough space to get the food and water they need.
  • Be careful around trees so they don’t get scraped or bumped.
