Task 1: My important people
Everyone has special people in their life who are important to them. This could be someone in our family. It can also be our teachers or coaches, or even a close friend.
The following image shows some of the important people in one student's life:
This image is titled “The Important People in My Life”. It showcases six sets of people. The first one is of a young child saying “My little brother. He was born when I was 4 years old. He loves to play wit his ball”. The second one is of a teenage child that says “My older sister. She likes to sing. I love to sing songs with her”. The third one is of an adult wearing glasses with a book in hand that says “My dad. I like it when he reads books with me.” The fourth one is of an adult with a tray of cookies in their hand that says “My mom. I like it when she bakes. My favourite thing that she bakes is cookies”. The fifth one is of two adults standing beside one another saying “My aunt and uncle. I like when they come over and play with me”. The sixth one is of an adult wearing glasses saying “My grade 1 teacher. They help me learn many things like how to write stories”.
Now it’s your turn to share the most important people in your life.
Draw and label four of the most important people in your life, or describe them. Then, explain why each person is important to you and how each person makes you feel special.

You might not live on a boat like Jeremy, but there are still many special places in your life that are important to you!
The following image is an example of some of the important places from one student's life:
This image is titled “Important Places in My Life”. There are five important places shown. The first place is of a house it says “My home. It is the place I have lived in all my life. I share my room with my younger siblings”. The second place shows a kitchen it says” My kitchen, I like the smell of my parent’s cooking. I eat my breakfast in the kitchen”. The third place shows a community centre it says “The community centre. My favourite place to go is the community centre. I love to go swimming there”. The fourth place is a school it says “My school. I go every day to learn and have fun with my friends”. The fifth place is a library it says “The library. This is my favourite place to read. I love sitting out in the courtyard with a new book with the birds singing and the breeze gently blowing”.
A student made a map to share the important places in their life. The shapes on the map are where these important places are located. Help the student place the correct sticker of the important place in the spaces in the map.
