Paramedics help people who are hurt or sick. They respond to calls for help and quickly drive the ambulance with flashing lights to let people know they are driving fast to get to an emergency. Paramedics provide medical care and take people to the hospital in an ambulance.

Construction workers help build and repair houses, buildings, roads, schools, and bridges across many communities. They wear hard hats, gloves, boots, a belt with tools, and a reflective vest to stay safe. Construction workers help create the places that people use every day.

Astronauts travel into space to learn and explore the universe. They work on spacecrafts and space stations, conduct scientific experiments, and use special tools to gather important information about the planet. Their work helps us learn more about Earth and space.

Veterinarians are doctors for animals who care for pets and other animals. They work in a veterinary clinic and wear scrubs. They examine animals to treat illnesses and injuries. They help keep animals healthy.

Geologists study rocks, soil, and minerals to learn more about Earth. They work outside to collect samples and conduct research to study how landforms change over time. Geologists also learn about natural events like earthquakes. Their work helps us learn more about the world around us.

There are many types of jobs!

Some areas of employment are specific to the following areas:

  • natural resources (land stewardship – protecting and conserving natural resources)
  • agriculture (farming, harvesting)
  • manufacturing (creating items that people use)
  • tourism and recreation (employment specific to travelling and playing)
  • the service sector (helping others)
  • education (teaching others)
