Action
Be active!

Reflect on factors that motivate you to be physically active.
Why is it important to be motivated to be physically active?
Press ‘Let’s Check!’ to access a possible response.
It is important to be motivated when being active because we must like doing the physical activity. If someone isn’t motivated, they will either choose not to pay close attention to their performance and what they’re doing, which can lead to injury.
What makes a physical activity enjoyable?
- modify games for different purposes
- participate in activities that suit our interests and abilities
- being exposed to various recreational, team, individual, dance, and fitness activities
- feel comfortable about the activity
- engage in activities that are culturally relevant
Sometimes there are factors that may stop someone from being more active and participate in physical activities.
Some of these factors include:
- feeling pressure from peers
- not feeling a sense of belonging
- not being confident about their ability to participate in certain physical activities
- the cost of participating in an activity
- not having the time because of other responsibilities
Is it enjoyable?
Reflect on the following scenarios and determine if this would be enjoyable or not.
Press the following tabs to access each scenario.

Daily physical activity

Imagine that you are in charge of creating the daily physical activity program for a Grade 7 class.
This class has not had a daily physical activity program before.
Use the factors that help people enjoy physical activities, from the Action section, and your ideas to create a plan to develop this program.
Consider the following as you develop your plan:
- What questions would you ask the students?
- What steps would you take when determining the program that they will participate in?
- What will you need to consider about the students before you create a program? (i.e., their strengths, needs, interests, and etc.)
Reflect on these questions, then create your plan in a notebook or another method of your choice.
Complete the Daily Physical Activity Plan in your notebook or using the following fillable and printable document. If you would like, you can use speech-to-text or audio recording tools to record your thoughts.
